The 2008 Preakness Stakes (G1) was a race for second place behind the dominant Derby winner Big Brown. Then, without much fanfare and at odds of 40-1, Derby Trial winner Macho Again won that “other” race, coming again to collar the rest of the field with a steady and powerful stretch drive mid-track. Macho Again continued to raise the level of his game by scoring a rousing victory in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy at Saratoga. This talented and determined colt promises to give us a summer to remember.
"West Point's second Classic contender did not get the attention of a Flashy Bull, but I felt that this hard-running horse was going to become a top three-year-old, and he has. Macho Again's second place performance made the 2008 Preakness a great day for the company and for his Partners and signaled his coming out party. We expect his rise to prominence to continue."
"I knew Macho Again was a two-turn horse who could run against nice horses. He just hadn't had the chance to prove himself until the Preakness. His second place finish that day is all the proof anyone needed, but if there were still doubters he silenced them in the Jim Dandy."
